What is 2-1-1
2-1-1 is Connecticut’s free information and referral service. Simply by dialing 2-1-1, a toll-free number throughout Connecticut, callers can reach knowledgeable, multilingual staff and get information, referrals or seek help in a crisis. 2-1-1 operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. 2-1-1 is supported by the State of Connecticut and Connecticut United Ways.
What's New
EMPS has a new website –With just a few clicks of the mouse visitors can locate an EMPS provider in their city or town, request an EMPS presentation, download EMPS materials, and connect to other resources that are available to assist parents and caregivers whose children are experiencing a behavioral or emotional crisis. FCC 2-1-1 Designation Celebrates 10 Years - Ten years ago, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) designated 2-1-1 as the national 3-digit dialing code to help people gain access to health and human services. Now, close to 80 percent of the population has access to 2-1-1. (more)
Stay in the Game – United Way of Connecticut is a partner in the effort to raise awareness about the importance of colorectal cancer screenings. United Way 2-1-1 has a listing of the colorectal screening sites and program eligibility guidelines. For more information, dial 2-1-1 or click here.
United Way 2-1-1 Assists with a New Homelessness Prevention Initiative - The federal Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP) initiative is underway. HPRP provides federal stimulus funds to help those who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. United Way 2-1-1 is proud to assist with this program and has begun screening and connecting callers to HPRP. Click here for more info.
