Senior Community Investment Manager
United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut

Position Summary: Responsible for engaging donors and communities through development of effective partnerships, volunteerism and results-based investments and identifies and strengthens resources that contribute to changing community conditions and improving lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to improve community conditions in assigned geographic areas
  • Assist with development and management of initiatives related to United Way’s community goals in assigned issue areas (such as efforts to help children succeed in school and/or to help families become financially stable and/or decrease hunger and homelessness)
  • Provide staffing support to one or more regional advisory boards and regional work plans that meet department and organizational goals
  • Serve as liaison to assigned agencies
  • Monitor management and governance practices as well as fiscal and program strengths and ensure participation in Community Campaign and partnership events
  • Provide coordination of internal processes
  • Provide staffing support to volunteers providing accurate and updated information on partner agencies, project status and budget reports
  • Attend special events and community functions during and after business hours.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, plus 5 years non profit experience. Masters degree preferred.
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal, strong organizational, planning, analytical, community organizing and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in subject matters related to United Way’s community goals; knowledge and experience regarding complex issues of program and policy development, including assistance with development and/or management of initiatives/partnerships.
  • Experience or working knowledge of early childhood education/school readiness- and/or family financial stability, best practices preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and conduct effective presentations to convey ideas and concepts to groups.
  • Experience in metro west region (New Britain, Farmington Valley, etc) in UWCNCT’s service area preferred.
  • Must have computer experience with MS Office using Word, Excel PowerPoint and Access.
  • Valid CT Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Care 4 Kids Client Services Representative

  • FT Hours: Mon-Friday 8am-5pm with every 3rd Thurs. 9am–6pm
  • Rate: $12.86 per hour

Responsibilities: As part of a specialized unit, Care 4 Kids (C4K) Client Services Representative provides detailed information about eligibility requirements and C4K protocols makes referrals, and documents cases.

Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in customer service field.
  • Prior experience demonstrating computer and phone skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with people from all economic, racial, age, ethnic, and social groups.

Software Developer

The Software Developer implements systems, applications and services and provides technical support and operating procedures along with training on these deliverables to end-users.

Required Education and Experience:

  • BS in computer science (or equivalent practical experience) preferred.
  • 2+ years of direct programming experience (professional or academic)using programming languages such as: Python, Ruby, C#, Visual Basic, or Java.
  • Working knowledge of SQL (Transact, PL/SQL, or MySQL) database development.
  • Experience developing Web-based applications.

Responsibilities:

Software Development & Support (90%)

  • Work with IT colleagues and user community to build, maintain and extend robust, scalable, dependable applications.
  • Create software that interoperates with legacy components written in Visual Basic (VB6/.net), Python, PHP and SQL.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance software system efficiency, security, and performance.
  • Work closely with user community and operations to resolve production issues.
  • Coordinate the testing, installation, and implementation of new/improved systems or upgrades, conferring with appropriate personnel on operational issues.

Ongoing Professional Development (10%)

  • Increase job-related technical skills by reading and studying, experimentation with hardware and software, discussion with colleagues, and by attending conferences, training sessions, classes, and demonstrations.
  • Work on special programs as assigned.

Call Center Clinician Manager
United Way of Connecticut

The Clinical Manager will be responsible for overseeing call center operations for emergency Mobile Psychiatric Service requests as well as serving as the liaison between the call center and community based providers of EMPS services and DCF.

Skills Required:

  • Licensed Mental Health Practitioner with five or more years of post graduate work experience including the delivery and oversight of community mental health services for children and families.
  • Three years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge, familiarity and/or experience with call center operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to train staff in crisis assessment and crisis stabilization.
  • Working knowledge of call center technology and supporting software systems.
  • Well developed counseling and coaching skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing needs within the department.
  • Obtain AIRS and AAS certifications when eligible.

Communications Director
United Way of the Capital Area

Position Summary: Leads development and implementation of communications strategies for multiple customers and audiences and ensures integration of organization’s brand and goals with all internal/external communications year-round.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees development of all communications pieces (year-round and campaign, print, graphic, and electronic) and ensures all marketing messages are consistent and in alignment with organization’s vision.
  • Develops and implements internet strategy, including design, implementation, and analysis of messages to targeted audiences.
  • Plans and implements organizational events (ex., Community Campaign events, annual meeting).
  • Develops and implements annual work plan and related spending plan for Communications materials/activities under supervision (departmental and related materials/activities other department work plans).
  • Serves as media contact/spokesperson in absence of President and/or Senior Vice President as needed.
  • Supervises Communications staff.
  • Staff communications committees in United Way regions, as necessary.
  • Attend Board of Directors, Campaign Cabinet, and internal/external meetings as necessary.
  • Provides other project management support as needed.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field plus five years experience including staff supervision. Previous United Way experience preferred. Excellent writing and interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience with internet strategy, e-communications, graphic design and public relations. Sound judgement, good organizational and analytical ability and event management skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, graphic design and e-communications software. Valid Connecticut driver’s license and reliable transportation.
